Conference Centre Mauerstrasse 27, Berlin, Germany

SoilCarbon4Climate – Pathways for soil carbon in temperate regions Conference

Hosted by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany, and co-organized by the international ”4 per 1000“ Initiative and the Federal Humus Programme of Germany, the conference will bring together soil experts from all stakeholder groups across the temperate climate zone to share insights, innovations and lessons learnt from their national and regional contexts and to delve into the recent discourse on soil health and soil carbon.
Background and goal:
Increasing and maintaining the soil organic carbon (SOC) content has a large impact on climate change mitigation, while essentially increasing the resilience to its impacts. Farm level action for SOC needs an enabling environment supported by sciences, politics and value chain actors. As actors in similar agroecological conditions are often confronted with similar challenges, fostering a multi-stakeholder dialogue between actors within the temperate climate zone will foster innovation and scale-up of solutions.
Conference:
During two days, the conference will offer excellent opportunities for knowledge exchange and networking through presentations, discussions and workshops. It will encourage multi-stakeholder dialogue and showcase successful examples for soil carbon action beyond labels. The programme is completed by an excursion to partner farms of the Federal Humus Programme around Berlin.
Pre-registration and Call for Abstracts are now open until June 1, 2025.
