Commission V  "Soil Genesis, Soil Classification and Soil Information"

Commission V of the German Society of Soil Science comprises scientific
and applied interests in  soil morphology, soil genesis, soil mapping,
soil classification and taxonomy, soil geography, pedometrics, paleopedology,
soil information systems and integrated soil data management. The main focus
is on the soil in its landscape context and social signification.

Accordingly, the commission is focused on scale-depending spatial and temporal deductions, soil properties, soil functioning and evaluation in space and time and the development of adequate techniques, including mathematical and statistical methods.

Within these focal points the challenges of commission V are the formation of a forum
for scientific discussion and scientific progress.
