The commission III is dealing with soil inhabiting biota (microbiota and fauna). The main focus is the interaction between the various soil biota and the interconnection between biota and soil as a living space, a physical and a chemical environment.
The commission III aims at supporting the development and implementation of new methods for the observation and quantification of soil biota and their effects on soil processes. Understanding the impact of human activities and land use in particular on soil biota is also within the scope of commission III.
